CLOSING OUT THE YEAR

As we near the end of freshman year, our 9th graders have hopefully transitioned well into their roles as high school students and are gearing up for sophomore year. Parents and students are encouraged to continue monitoring grades through both student and parent portals. During guidance lessons, freshmen are reminded of the importance of GPA and the impact their 9th grade year has on college admissions in the near future. A student's GPA is calculated by averaging the final grades given in May, at the conclusion of each school year. I encourage students to begin researching various college admissions profiles to help set academic goals for their high school careers. In the early spring, we  created individual graduation plans and discussed class registration for the 2016-2017 school year.  Students have selected and approved classes for next year. Remind students that they are responsible for completing all summer work associated with selected classes.
